The infantile miscreants from The Secret of the Ooze continue to expand their presence in the large TMNT mythos. Their takes from the 1987 cartoon just got a lot more… METAL.

As the NECA Fred Wolf TMNT line continues on, we have gotten a very comprehensive collection. Most of the unique characters (there are still some to do!) and unique looks have been covered in this line, so NECA has been exploring new ways to continue to expand the horizons. We have started to see characters like Panda Khan and Wyrm, who did NOT appear in the show, be adapted into this line, as well as “Adventure” takes from the main characters.

Tokka and Rahzar are getting in on the action with this now in their all-new “robo” forms. We have gotten figures of their actual appearance from the show (which was TOTALLY different in look and characterization from SotA), but these looks are all-new, while at the same time, steeped in history. If you are reading this, I am sure you are familiar with the robot versions of Bebop and Rocksteady, both on-screen, and in plastic, so these new Tokka and Rahzar figures should make a lot of sense.

These designs actually started as a fan creation and NECA worked to bring them to plastic, and frankly, they fit in wonderfully with the cartoon line overall, and the designs are REALLY strong. Like, I love these interpretations more than what was done from Bebop and Rocksteady. The colors, line work, and overall build makes these fit right in with B&R, but I love the additional details that these two have.

They are easily identifiable as Tokka and Rahzar, and little nods like Rahzar’s chest plate are really appreciated. I love the Tokka’s snapping turtle shell motif is enhanced as well, with rocket blasters, tubes, spikey shoulder armor plates. The jewel-power sources are retained here in both of the their heads, and both also feature hinged jaws. There is a lot going on with both of these, but the articulation is maintained pretty well, so posing should not be an issue.

This set includes an array of swappable hands for both characters, but also some additional accessories. Tokka gets a sword, while Rahzar has a mace, but frankly, you can swap those around as you like. There is also a computer chip piece (likely storing their memory or fight protocols), as well as an hilarious bowl of nuts and bolts that is part of a balanced robot breakfast. I love how that silly little piece is so attuned to the tone of the show and this action figure line overall, it just makes it even more fun. It’s the little things.

We have entered into a time when we have to starting having the conversation that this cartoon line by NECA is in company of the vintage line in terms of being definitive, and one of the best all-time. As more and more cartoon characters are ticked off the list, new takes like these just make it even stronger. There is still a lot to do, so I am looking forward to what is coming next. We know some disguise Turtles will be here later this year, but what of Tempestra, Ray, and others? Maybe characters like Monty Moose, King Lionheart and others can find their way. It would be fun!

This set is a part of the 2026 Haulathon, so be on the lookout for it at Target now.
