He has the (LASER!) Power, and He-Man is back with a new Origins release from Mattel Creations. We are inching closer and closer to having that vintage line-up completed in the MOTUO line, and this is a really fun addition.

If you are like most of us who collected MOTU as a kid, you did not have Laser Power He-Man. Or Laser Light Skeletor for that matter. But maaaaaan, the concept an execution was so cool. We got a chance to finally get these figures in the MOTU Classics line, and l love those a lot, but as you can imagine, these hit more closely to those vintage unicorns.

This figure checks all the boxes in terms of the costume and design – even the portrait is very different from the classic He-Man look, just like the original. The “H” on the harness and the “M” on the belt are kind of silly, but again, I love that it is different from the rest, and vintage accurate.

The laser light-up sword is so cool, and it has been executed pretty perfectly. It is battery-powered from the backpack and connected via the yellow power cord. You turn it on via the button on the top of the pack, and it works REALLY well. The light is bright, and the color of the blade gives you some gradient to the light when it is illuminated. It is simple and effective, and that is the best combination. When not in use, the sword can be stored on the side of the pack.

The vintage line-up in Origins is getting closer and close to completion, and this is such a fun figure. I am hoping that Laser Light Skeletor is right around the corner so we can complete this pair.
