This is an action figure of The Joker that is totally not based on the 1990 Batman movie. It is based on the comic adaptation, so any talk about some guy named Jack, that is not Jack Napier, is just not to be had. Ya hear me?!?

That said, we have been waiting a long time for this. I mean SERIOUSLY. I have been pretty picky-choosey in terms of my DC Multiverse collecting, but you better believe I got the 1990 movie Batman figure, so getting a Joker figure to go with him, no matter what the exact source material is, is a really big deal. Sure, 1:6 collectors have been enjoying that scenario for a long time, but for those of us who prefer the 1:12/1:10 scale, even getting this close has never been whiffed.

I get it, you can take a situation like this one of two ways: reject it because it is not an exact likeness (with all the ASTRONOMICAL costs associated with Jack Nicholson’s look), or embrace it because, for all intents and purposes, it foots the bill. Especially at this scale. I get it, if I closely examine the face, you can tell it comes from the comic art work. Which is what it is SUPPOSED to be. But if you have this figure on your shelf and you are admiring it next to Batman, it totally works.

I am not going to try to convince anyone of anything, everyone is entitled to feel the way they do about this figure, and maybe I am too easy to please. That said, I am really happy to have a 1990 Batman and Batmobile, and a fun Joker figure that goes with them. Lucky me, I suppose, but I have a little corner of my space reserved for this group, and it really makes me smile. I hear the quotes from the movie when I look over at it, and that is how I know it clicks for me.

Past that, this is a really fun figure, and since it is meant to be a comic-inspired figure, it does a GREAT job at that. The sculpting is nice, and the paints on the complicated costume are wonderful. I love the patterns and sheen on the pants, especially. The swappable hair/hat is a very nice touch, and you get what you need from all the accessories, too. I love the ridiculously long barrel on the iconic revolver especially.

So, if you want a fun Joker figure that goes well with your 1990 movie Batman, get this. I know it has been difficult to come by – when it went up for preorder, it broke a LOT of sites, but it is getting out there. I think once in hand, if you are skeptical, much of that will go away once he is with Batsy.
