Review of the Stunning Mega Man X Action Figure Collection

Happy Mega Man Monday! I have made it well known that when it comes to the Blue Bomber, I am Classic series guy all the way. However, sometimes a figure looks so nice it is hard to resist…

Since I do appreciate the full history of Mega Man, I do like to have an occasional figure outside the Classic era to help with representation in the collection. I had been eyeing this figure since it was announced by threeZero, but I did not grab it right at the release. However, since I have added a few of the Classic MDLX figures to my collection, I figured this would be a good one, especially since I only have a few X figures on the shelf.

I am glad I did, because I actually like this figure better as an X figure than I like the MDLX Classic MM figures. I like the Classic figures, but some of the proportions and style choices are not my preferred Classic looks. This X figure, though – it takes all the strengths of the Classic figures and does one better with the classic X style.

This figure is much taller than the Classic version (as it should be), and that helps even out the giant boots to give a stronger silhouette. The portraits and swappable hands serve their purposes well and can be changed out fairly easily; though the faces can be a bit of process due to the helmet assembly. The shoulder pads are a bit fidget-y and can pop off as you pose him, so that would be the nitpick I have for this one.

The included X-Buster blast is large, so I am glad a stand has been included. You have the option of attaching the effect to the actual cannon, or as free-standing, and the proper replacement parts are included to complete each look.

Not being an X-series guy, it took me a minute to come around on this figure and commit to purchase, but I am glad I did. It’s really nice, and might be the best of the MDLX Mega Man figures yet. I like it well enough to preorder Zero so he has a friend. That one will be out by the end of the year.
