Hello everybody! It is I, SUPER GROVER! And I am cute, too.

Whew! It feels like FOREVER since we have gotten a new NECA Toys Sesame Street figure. Well, it has actually been right at about a year since Count was a part of the 2025 Haulathon. Well, the 2026 version is bringing us (arguably) the greatest super hero of all time. It’s funny, we have been seeing other character prototypes throughout the past year, and they are still coming, but Super Grover marks the fourth figure in the series, and we just saw him debut at Toy Fair last month.

It sounds like the schedule is getting back on track with Big Bird coming soon, and Oscar teeing up just after that, so to get back on schedule, Super Grover is a great choice. I have a pretty good character barometer when it comes to other people – don’t trust ANYONE who doesn’t love Super Grover. It has never failed me, and after Bert and Ernie, Grover is probably my favorite Sesame Street character. He is certainly my mom’s, and from the skits with Mr. Johnson, “A Monster at the End of this Book,” and saving the Street super style – Grover has a wonderful history which qualifies him as one of the best.

His super alter ego has certainly lent itself to toys in the past. For some reason I forgot to take a picture with the old Palisades version, but that has been one of my favorite pieces for a long time. Well, this new version from NECA is just wonderful too, and he fits in perfectly with the previously-released Bert, Ernie, and Count, and will also settle in nicely with the other Sesame characters, not to mention the Muppets who will be joining later this year. So, having a coherent collection of all of these wonderful characters is probably the thing I look forward to the most in this hobby right now.

SG comes in a character-specific box that fits the theme and numbering of the line, as well as swappable hands, a flight stand, and the letters “S” and “G,” naturally. Getting these Muppet Letters and Numbers is a really fun part of this line, so I am glad to see that continuing. He does have fewer accessories than the previous figures, but I am positive that is due to the large flight stand that is included, and needed – Super Grover does need to fly, you know.

At his base, Super Grover is, well, GROVER, with his super hero costume added. The helmet, cape, and logo make up this outfit and all the pieces look great. The soft goods of the cape, and the ties around the neck and wrists all work very well, and the cape hangs naturally in a variety of poses. I really like the logo and helmet, too, and the latter is attached via a ball joint and can be posed. This helps set it correctly for flying poses, but also allows you to set it askew for his patented crash landings. So, that does mean it isn’t just a regular Grover figure under the regalia, so the wait for the two-pack of Grover with Mr. Johnson continues. Killing me!

The sculpting work on Grover is very nice and captures the spirit of the character very well. Muppet fans are a, um, passionate group, so I am sure there are some things that can be nitpicked, but nothing stands out to me, and I like this Grover quite a lot. He has some great articulation in his jaw, neck, mid-torso, shoulders, wrists, hips, knees, and ankles. The neck works especially well and provides a lot of expressive range. As promised, Grover has wire frame bendy arms and they are completely appropriate here and work well. The wire is strong, but can be subtly positioned, so that is a good thing, and since he has swappable hands with wrist articulation and typical shoulder movement, Grover isn’t missing anything.

Friends, I love this line, and every new reveal and addition to the shelf just makes me smile. Building out the people in the neighborhood is a pure delight, and Super Grover makes me so excited to continue the collection. He is essential for serious Sesame Street fans, or even casuals show share a fun memory of him. He is first available at Haulathon (Target), but look for him to roll out wider later in the year. He is SUPER!
