Another day, another new MOTU release! This one comes via Mattel Creations, and it’s one we have been waiting on for a bit now. Stonedar has finally arrived to provide some steady leadership for the Comet Warriors, and bring us one step closer to completing that vintage line-up in Origins.

Rokkon’s partner in intergalactic justice has been realized just as nicely for these modern times. Stonedar looks “just like you remember” but with some cleaner sculpting lines and more detailed paint work than his version of yore. However, he DOES retain that rad transforming function and can quickly hide in his rock form when evil doers are on the prowl. This is such a simple function of these figures, but I absolutely love it, and it is another reminder that MOTU did so much in terms of themes and functions in 1980s, so it is fun to see this retained here.

I was REALLY young when MOTU began, so since Stonedar was a late entrant into the line, he hit right in my sweet spot of memory, and I have such good ones of the Comet Warriors, so I am personally very glad to have them. Maybe we can get a Granita, too, if we are lucky. I loved seeing here turn up in the MOTU Classics line, and having these guys as a trio just seems right.

We are almost there, MOTU fans. The vintage line up is just a few movie figures, giants, laser guys, tops, and a TWO-BADD(!!!) away from being complete. It’s been a fun adventure thus far, and I am excited to see what the future holds.
