Get on your bikes and ride! Ghost Rider comes tearing back onto the Marvel Legends scene, and if you are fan of the classics (and you should be!), this one is gonna getcha.
Ghost Rider has certainly had his due in Marvel Legends. My guy Johnny Blaze has been represented in fine fashion since the old TB days, but Dan Ketch has had his due, as have other GRs. Frankly, I don’t think there has been a *bad* Ghost Rider in Marvel Legends, but that doesn’t mean that new releases can’t keep getting better. That is case here, and if you are fan of that iconic Blaze look, this one finally gets that look down.
I will be honest and say that I really like the previous Johnny release with the bike. I am going to find a spot to continue to display that one, but for me, this is the look I have really wanted. With that, the actual Ghost Rider figure is more “new” here than the bike, as it is a repainted and repurposed version of the previous bike. That is perfectly fine for me, as I think it works quite well here, but Johnny is the attraction.
This is (obviously) the classic stunt rider look for Ghost Rider. I know his modern designs and thoughts are synonymous with fire and black costume bits, but this stunt rider blue is what I love, and it is very eye-catching. It is also a way to offset him from the Dan Ketch look, which I associate more with the classic motorcycle rider look. The blue jumpsuit with the white line highlights really looks great, especially with the BRIGHT WHITE flaming skull portrait. The current ML joint construction and engineering is also here, and thus an upgrade, and all of the joints are functional to what you would expect from a current ML, and all in pinless fashion.
The bike itself is basically the same that we have had before, but with some added embellishments. Oh, and in red. Very, VERY red. The flame accessories are present again and can be removed if you prefer. The small one that sits on the back tire guard can be swapped out with the new back thingee (to be technical). The latter has a revocable skull that is smaller than a standard human skull at this scale (based on Johnny’s head), so that is a little… disconcerting.
There are swappable hands, an alternate portrait (which MAYBE we have seen before?), and the flaming chain whip thing that continues to be a good piece of weaponry to wield while tearing down the highway and very irresponsible speeds. Frankly, you are all set for a classic GR here, so that makes me very happy.
Another winner in the ML column for me, and ever since I curated my collection down to those iconic looks for the characters, this is the look I have wanted for Ghost Rider. He is shipping now, so be on the lookout for him, this is a fun figure.
