ROUND THREE (AND FOUR!) FIGHT!!! Guile and M. Bison are back in the Jada Toys Street Fighter line, this time in new color ways for the summer Wal-Mart Collector Con.
I am still in the midst of shaking out of everything SDCC. Reveling in new reveals, getting new pick-ups on the shelf, and awaiting for things ordered during the Con to arrive. While I feel like this is some entitled complaining, being at SDCC makes it really difficult to keep all of the con-adjacent releases straight. I get why Wal-Mart wants to have their Collector Con coincide with the show, but I had to set several early morning (Pacific Time) alarms to make sure I didn’t miss anything I wanted.
High on that list was this new “versus” two-pack from the Jada Toys Street Fighter line. As we are speeding toward the end of the SFII roster (and heading into Alpha 3), there are several opportunities for us to collect our favorite alternate color ways. Guile and M. Bison have now have three and four variations respectively, and while I thought I was going to be able to resist many of these at first, I am now going in for all of them – and having a good time, too.
The Super SFII game brought a lot of colorful outfits, and this time Guile gets red, and Bison is in his royal blue. from the outset, I will say that the paint is the only new thing featured in this set. There are no new accessories that we have not already seen, so if you are not into the alternate colors, this is likely an easy skip. But that is where we are for this line, I think keeping the more traditional Street Fighter II releases going in some capacity while the line expands is a good idea as it allows late-comers to join the line, and allows the most well-known looks to remain at retail.
It is crazy that this set actually arrived at my house before I got home from SDCC (I don’t think that has ever happened, especially with Wal-Mart), and as I am on the cusp of reorganizing my SF display, this is a great addition for me. Neither of these are my favorite alternate for either character, but they are strong colors and the figures look great. These releases allow you to pick and choose the colors you like the best, so I am looking forward to seeing future releases.
